Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Uyen Chu is a general and bariatric surgeon. She was one of the first general surgeons in the region to be trained in laparoscopic surgery on the colon, stomach, esophagus, spleen, pancreas and adrenal gland. Dr. Chu earned a medical degree from LSU Medical Center before completing a research fellowship at the University of Florida Health Science Center. She is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, Louisiana Chapter of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Lafayette Parish Medical Society and Louisiana State Medical Society.
